“All in my head”

Mural installation at Antenna, New Orleans

By the end of August of 2022 I travelled to New Orleans in Louisiana to work on a project that I really wanted for a looooooong time: bring my words and illustrations to life.

When I saw Antenna’s open call for a reading room’s exhibition, I immediately thought about proposing a mural installation based on my zine “Anxious Poems”. The goal was to bring this zine’s pages to the walls, and submerse the audience in the words and drawings that a reflect sensitive topic: anxiety. I always had this idea that poetry and illustrations don’t have to life separated and only in common places such as books and magazines. They can be out there (and they are!), in places you wouldn’t think in the first place.

I was beyond happy to be selected and be able to work on such a large scale project. The whole project took around 4 days, from sketching and panting it by hand with tiny brushers and markers, to the final result: a living zine!

Unfortunately the mural only lived for two months. Now Antenna’s walls are ready for more underrepresented voices and endless out of the box projects. Antenna, THANK YOU for trusting in me! <3
